V For Vendetta

2005, R
Directed by James McTeigue
Screenplay by Andy Wachowski and Larry Wachowski
Based on a graphic novel by Alan Moore

In a dystopian future England, an authoritarian government has taken over.  As their practices become decidedly more fascist, an anarchist named V vowes to bring them down.  Along the way he takes a women named Evey under his wing—promising to rid her of fear, and thus, of fear as a tool to control her.  This film version, however, favors a neoconservative antagonist to a fascist one.
