Watchmen follows a group of costumed vigilantes through four eventful decades of American history. Ten years after their inception in the 1940s, a real superhero is born in and changes the course of history. Soon, public perception changes and new laws outlaw all non-governmental heroes. Then, in a dark alternate 1986, one of these vigilantes is murdered. This event will cascade into dozens more and only Rorschach, the last illegally operating vigilante, has a hope of solving a mystery that could result in the end of the world. The doomsday clock has begun….
