After Jean Grey’s untimely death at the end of the last movie, her rise as the Dark Phoenix is foreshadowed. When Cyclops is killed at the film’s start, however, it looks as if Wolverine will be central to this plot as well. Meanwhile, through the use of a mutant that “leeches” off the super powers of other mutants, a permanent cure for said powers is invented. When the cure takes the form of a gun, it becomes the catalyst for Magneto’s war and the X-Men will have to be ready.
