X-Men 2 (X2): X-Men United

2003, PG-13
Directed by Bryan Singer
Story by Zak Penn, David Hayter, and Bryan Singer
Screenplay by Michael Dogherty, Dan Harris, and David Hayter

The main plot from X-Men gets put on hold, mostly, in favor of a more straightforward action movie that delves into the origin of its most popular character—Wolverine.  William Stryker, the antagonist from Wolverine’s past, also becomes the antagonist of this sequel when he receives extra vested authorities after an assassination attempt on the President of the United States by a mutant.  Using that authority, he sets to rid the world of what he perceives to be a mutant threat but Magneto has ideas of his own.
