Bucky (X-Men 3)

X-Men 3
Directed by Brett Ratner
Written by Simon Kinberg and Zak Penn

Cyclops and Jean GreyWell, X-Men is back for a 3rd installment, or is it 2?  No it’s 3, the last movie was titled X-Men 2 not Wolverine Origins as it very well could have been.  Well once again Magneto (played very well by Ian McKellen yet again) will be the central villian KINDA.  The story is so basic and boring I don’t know if I can say there really was a villain or a hero for that matter.  Some might say I am being too harsh, but hey at least in the last two the beginning roped me in for a good time.  I can’t say the same happened here.  I was bored from the moment Cyclops’s (James Marsden again, man he must have pissed someone off in Hollywood) first scene is over.  Speaking about getting bitched like a midget at a long jump contest.  Jean Grey (Famke Janssen), as X2 preluded, does become the Dark Pheonix KINDA.  She was sooo boring to watch I wasn’t sure she was really there.  Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) is the central hero again, damn I thought this was X-Men.  I don’t what to say other then the sidebar scenes were fun to watch.  It seemed the further the scene seemed to be from the plot the more I enjoyed it.

Now let me just say that Kelsey Grammer playing Beast got alot of shi* from some of my friends, little do they know ’cause he was one of the few characters in this shi**y movie that might have actually come alive.  Now Ellen page as Kitty Pride, ahhh… she was simply the other woman, watch out Rogue.  Besides Beast I have to say when Juggernaut was on the move I found myself a bit excited.  He gave a nicely raw performance and he truly made you feel that he was “the Juggernaut bitch”.

The special effects were great as always.  Have to see that part never seems to dissapoint.  I can’t even say that acting was bad or good—I felt the story was so boring nobody could really shine.  The script should have been burned and the writer’s fingernails be removed for such a mundane adaptation.  The Dark Phoenix Saga was a very entertaining story in the X-Men universe.

Angel looks cool, Mystique is fun times, and Pyro is still a crybaby.  Have fun wtih your 104 minutes, ’cause I want mine back.
